Co-ed Washing stations: Onyx Room, San Diego

A good friend (Rye, Rye) keeps harassing me about my neglect to the blog. I haven't posted anything in a while not because I haven't been to any cool new bathrooms or have had any funny bathroom stories, it is just because I have been busy with graduate school and internship stuff, and also because I don't like the blogger iphone app. The app doesn't let me add pictures from the iphone to the post (say what....well at least that was the case 6 months ago, maybe this is a feature now, I will have to look into it).

This past Saturday night I got stuck at the Onyx Room being a good sister because my older brother was putting up with his friend's marriage drama and because some of his other friends were at this particular location. The crowd wasn't particularly our crowd, but for my brother and I it was more about hanging out with each other BSing than figuring out which place to go to next. Plus the point of my night was to hang out with my bro, so in that sense we did spend some quality time together, but I was a little bored because the crowd was really not that interesting.

The highlight of that part of the night was visiting the bathroom and making the male patrons pretend to hide from the camera while I was taking at the co-ed hand-washing station. I enjoyed the male bathroom attendant give me soap and hand me paper towels, but for some reason I felt it was a little awkward tipping him. I did not like that as I washed my hands a bit of water splashed on my legs. The sink and faucets are cool but not very functional - especially when you're wearing a skirt!

The bathroom stalls were fairly clean, there was only one cup of a finished drink left in the stall. And more importantly there was toilet paper!!! Always a plus, especially after midnight.

Bringing Happiness to Bathroom Stalls

I would love to see any of these quotes etched out on in bathroom stalls next to the Cindy loves Mark heart signs:

  • Happiness is a direction, not a place.  ~Sydney J. Harris
  • Most people would rather be certain they're miserable, than risk being happy.  ~Robert Anthony
  • The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.  ~Mark Twain
  • If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time.  ~Edith Wharton
  • Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys.  If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.  ~Fyodor Dostoevsky
  • Happiness is a form of courage.  ~Holbrook Jackson
  • We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.  ~Frederick Keonig
  • What a wonderful life I've had!  I only wish I'd realized it sooner.  ~Colette
